For Guests • October – March Season
A warm hearth can turn a chilly evening into a memory, but only if it’s treated with respect. Here’s everything you need to know to enjoy the gas-log fireplaces safely and keep your security deposit intact.
Fireplace operating season
Gas logs are live from October through March, but dates may be adjusted depending on the weather. Outside those months, the system is shut off and should not be used.
What's normal
• A small, steady pilot-light flame is expected during the operating season. Leave it alone—extinguishing it can lock the unit.
• The metal surround and screen can become HOT when the burner is on. Plan accordingly and brief everyone in your party.
Who can operate the fireplace?
Only a capable adult aged 23 or older should operate the controls. Kids must be supervised at arm’s length; better yet, create a physical barrier.
How to turn the fireplace on or off?
There is a timer switch in the upper right corner. Turn it past the 10 (or 15) minute mark as indicated on the dial. It will turn itself off once time runs out.
Absolute NO-GO list
• No foreign objects—no papers, toys, or marshmallows.
• No food, liquids, or extra fuel.
• No fiddling with valves, timer switches, flex lines, or the outdoor propane tank. If something looks off, call us—don’t experiment.
HVAC interaction
Running the HVAC in cooling mode while the fireplace is on can force the system into conflict, overheat components, and void coverage (which in turn, results in charges to the Guest). Pick heat or cool—never both at once.
Malfunction or question?
Text or email the Owners with photos if anything looks, smells, or sounds wrong. We’ll respond the same day and send a licensed tech if needed.
Liability reminder
Any damage traced back to misuse or tampering—burned remote controls, melted vents, cracked glass, etc.—comes out of the Rental deposit first, then your card on file for any overage. Play it safe and everyone stays happy.
Enjoy the glow, respect the flame, and the house will keep you warm all winter.
